Cookie Policy

Quirl uses essential cookies — the ones the site needs to function — and a small amount of privacy-respecting analytics to understand how the site is used. We don't use cookies for advertising or to track you across other sites, and you can opt out of analytics anytime.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Cookies let a site remember things between page loads and visits — for example, that you're signed in or that you've already seen a particular notice — so it can work properly and remember your choices.
How and why we use cookies
We use cookies (and similar browser storage) for three purposes:
- Keeping you signed in (essential). When you log in, a cookie maintains your session so you stay authenticated as you move around the app. Without it you couldn't use your account.
- Remembering your preferences (essential). A cookie records that you've dismissed the cookie notice — and whether you've opted out of analytics — so we don't ask again on every visit.
- Understanding usage (analytics). Our analytics provider sets a cookie and uses your browser's local storage to recognize your device across pages and visits, so we can see which features get used and where people get stuck. This is the only category you can opt out of.
We don't use cookies to track you across other sites, build advertising profiles, or sell your data.
Who sets cookies
The session and preference cookies are first-party — set by Quirl itself. Two service providers set their own cookies:
- PostHog, our analytics provider, sets a cookie and uses local storage to measure product usage. See PostHog's privacy policy.
- Stripe, our payment processor, sets cookies for fraud prevention and to run the secure payment flow when you start a checkout or open the billing portal. See Stripe's privacy policy.
Managing cookies
Essential cookies can't be switched off — blocking the one that keeps you signed in would prevent you from using your account — but you can opt out of analytics at any time:
Your choice is remembered on this device. You can also clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time.
